He was born January 3, 1893, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Henry Heber and Vilate Smyth Arnold. He married Amanda Ingram October 21, 1919, in Sugar City, Idaho. The marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. She died in 1953.

He received his education in Salt Lake City schools. He served in the US Army during WWI. He served as Sheriff in Sugar City, Idaho. He later lived in Salt Lake City, Boise, Orem and Provo. He lived in Provo for 43 years.

He worked for Safeway Stores for 40 years as a meat cutter retiring in 1958.

He was an active member of the LDS Church and of the Meat Cutter's Union as well as the American Legion.

He is survived by four sons and one daughter, Melvin Earl Jr., Robert H. Arnold, Paul S. Arnold, J. Lynn Arnold and Doris Hill, 19 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.

Mr Arnold loved to visit family and friends and will be missed by all who knew him.
