FREDERICK OID DAVIS, 90, of Springfield, died Saturday afternoon, January 9, 2010 in his residence.

He was born in Murphy, North Carolina on April 30, 1919 one of thirteen children born to James Baxter and Mary Jane (Lunsford) Davis.

Oid served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He retired from Howard Sober Transport following over 30 years of service. He was a member of Clark Lodge #101 F. & A.M.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Mary L. (Davis); son and daughter-in-law, Phil and Roz Davis of Littleton, Colorado; two grandchildren, Katie and Evan Davis; three sisters, Alice Hyatt, Jane Hanks, and Vistabelle Miller; a brother, Rex (Frances) Davis; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Blanche and Beatrice; and six brothers, Max, Hal, Don, Sam, Ray, and Ned.

Oid's funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME with Pastor David Hill officiating.

A gathering of family and friends will be held one hour prior to the service.

Burial will be in Asbury Cemetery
