Daily Democrat, Clinton MO, Thurs, Jan 27 2000 - Othie Earl Owsley was born in Benton County April 16, 1912, son of Joseph M. and Bertha Mae Pyle Owsley. He died Wednesday, January 19, 2000, at St. Luke's Hospital in Kansas City. Othie served his country during World War II as a member of the United States Army. He was captured in France and was a prisoner of war for 10 and a half months. He was a member of the Ex-POW Club, a life member of VFW Post 1896 and the American Legion. He married Dolly Justis on July 3, 1943, in Abilene, Texas. He went to work for Missouri Public Service in August 1946 and worked his way up to foreman. Preceding him in death were a son, Leonard Owsley, and two sisters, Ruth Trenary and Ethel Bell. Survivors include his wife, Dolly, of the home; son, Dean Owsley and wife, Denise, Clinton; daughters, Gale Ann Vesco and husband, Jack, Sparks, Nevada, Debbie Gamber and husband, Jim, Clinton; brothers, Olan Owsley, Lincoln, California, Lester Owsley, Honey Path, South Carolina; 11 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held January 24 at the Consalus Chapel Clinton. Burial was in Clinton Memory Gardens with graveside services provided by Clinton VFW Post 1894.
