When Olan Owsley turned 100 in 2012 he was interviewed by the local press. Asked to what he attributed his longevity, he modestly replied "just lucky I guess." His wife Georgia (of over 70 years) added that "he did it gradually". He never smoked and he and his wife ate nutritiously. He loved to garden and share his produce with the local neighborhood folks in Lincoln. Per his obit in 2014 "he did many jobs during his lifetime, farming, roadwork for the WPA, carpentry, ice delivery, including icing boxcars, owned and operated Sunset Service with his late brother-in-law, Dee Durnell, and was yard foreman at the Roseville Livestock Auction." He was blessed with long life, an enduring marriage of 79 years, and was survived by three daughters and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
