George was born in Warren County, Ohio, March 5, 1817 (according to handwritten notes made by one of his granddaughters). He was a son of Littleton Adkinson (c1776-1854) and Sarah (c1791-1850/1854), both of whom were born in Maryland. They made their way through Bracken County, Kentucky, to Warren County, Ohio. George married Julia T Smith on Mar 9, 1843, in Warren County, Ohio. They had 8 children: John M (1843-1901), Andrew Levi (1845-1893), Sarah C (1847- ?), George W. (1849-1905), Julia Ann (1850-1923), William (1854-before 1920) David Henry (1857-1908) and Mary Ellen (1859-?). Julia T. died on November 27, 1863, in Center Twp., Ripley County.

George married Mary A. Ewing (1819-1904) on August 7, 1864, in Ripley County. They had no children. Mary A. Ewing was the widow of Reuben M. Priest. They had 2 children that I know of: James and Almira.
