Ellen Hatlestad

ESTELLINE –

Former Watertown resident Mrs. Ellen Margaret Hatlestad, 72 died Feb. 4 in an Elk Point nursing home.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in the Giese Funeral Home at Estelline with the Rev. Sam Hatlestad officiating. Burial will be in the Estelline Cemetery.

Visitation will be Wednesday in the Anderson Funeral Home at Elk Point.

Mrs. Hatlestad was born April 26, 1918, at Bruce to Tom and Tilda Olson. She married Melvin Hatlestad Feb. 22, 1936, at Toronto. The couple lived at Estelline until moving to Watertown in 1955. Mrs. Hatlestad was employed at Spies SuperValu and Osco Drug while living at Watertown. She retired in 1980. Mr. Hatlestad died in 1986.

She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Audrey Zeller of Elk, Point; two sons, Marvin of Sioux Falls and Terry of Yucaipa, Calif.; five sisters, Emma Bentass of White, Elsie Moeller and Mamie Papka, both of Estelline, and Clara Sando and Myrtle Papka, both of Brookings; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
