Graveside services for Robert Lee Blanton, age 77, of Bonham, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in Willow Wild Cemeery under the direction of Wise Funeral Home. Rev Gary Gibbs will officiate. Mr. Blanton passed away early Wednesday, Dec. 6, 1995, at Wilson N. Jones Hospital in Sherman.
Mr. Blanton was born in Fannin County, March 27, 1918, the son of William Newton Blanton and Ethel King Blanton. He married Ruby Ruth Lackey in Bonham, Oct. 9, 1937. She preceded him in death August 10, 1989. He was a longtime employee of the Bonham Cotton Mill and a lifetime resident of Fannin County. Mr. Blanton was of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by two sons, T.W. Blanton, and R.J. Blanton, a brother, Roscoe Blanton, a sister, Josephine Duncan, and five grandchildren. He was an avid coon hunter.
Survivors include two sons, Jimmie Blanton of Carthage and Billy Joe Blanton of Bonham; two daughters, Nell Daniels of Telephone and Robbie Harris of Sherman; brother, Bill Blanton of Southmayd; ten grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends at Wise Funeral Home from 7-8 p.m. Thursday evening.
