Last Victim of Crash is Recovered
Lancaster - April 30, the body of James Bruce Ballard, 34, of Lancaster, one of the three victims of a plane accident near here Friday night was recovered from the muddy waters of the Catawba River at 12:15 this afternoon about 50 yards from where the Piper cruiser went down. It was found near a floating boat house.
Funeral services for Mr. Ballard, employee of the finishing department at Grace Bleachery, will be conducted at 4 o'clock Thursday afternoon from the First Baptist church by the Rev. J.F. Burris, the Rev. F.W. Gales and Dr. Smmot Baker, chaplain of the Civil Air Patrol. Burial will be in the Lancaster Memorial Park with Masonic rites at the graveside.
Survivors include his parents, Mr. and Mrs. James L. Ballard, his widow, the former Miss Doris Hinson; three small children, Brenda Louise, Mary Frances and James B. Jr., and one sister, Mrs. William U. Hunter.
