LANCASTER - Mrs. Iris Ballard Hunter, 79, died Friday, June 9, 2006, at McLeod Hospital in Florence.
The funeral will be at First Baptist Church, with the Revs. Rob O'Neal and Roy Barnes officiating. Burial will be at West Side Cemetery.
A native of Lancaster, Mrs. Hunter was a daughter of the late James Leonard and Maude Amanda Hilliard Ballard. She was a graduate of Lancaster schools and Kings College of Charlotte. She was a retired executive secretary for Springs Mills as well as secretary to C.K. Connelly Jr. and pastor's secretary to Dr. Daniel W. Cloer. She was a member of First Baptist Church, where she had served as church clerk and was a member of the History Committee, the Ola Mae Wier Circle, the WMU and First Place. She was a charter member of TCB Kindergarten, having taught in the 2 years wee program. She was a member of the Lancaster Music Study Club. She was the widow of William Uriah Hunter.
Surviving are her daughter, three granddaughters; and two great-granddaughters.
