THELMA BEATRICE ADKINS, 96, of Barboursville, W.Va., went to be with the Lord on June 11, 2008, at the Emogene Dolen Jones Hospice House, Huntington, W.Va. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Saturday, June 14, 2008, at the Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel, Barboursville, by Rev. Carl Merritt. Burial will be in Oaklawn Memorial Park. She was born February 15, 1912, in Barboursville, a daughter of the late William Bailey and Armenta "Minnie Belle" Hash Wentz. She was a member of the Lighthouse Baptist Church, Milton, W.Va. In the early 1970s, she was the BYF director of Elmwood Baptist Church. She really enjoyed working with the youth of the church. She was preceded in death by two sons, John William ?Jay? and Charles Donald ?Don? Adkins; one sister, Ola Mullins; and brothers Lowen Wentz, Leslie "Bubby" Wentz and her twin brother, Bailey Wentz. She is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Carmel and Guy Porter of Charleston, W.Va., Carolyn and David Wall of Barboursville, and Michelle and Ronnie DeJarnett of Salt Rock, W.Va.; two special nieces, Charlotte Sue and Norman Adkins and Joyce and Bill Frazier and their daughter, Amy; 11 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank her special caretakers, Lisa Swann, Joanne Black, the Hospice nurses, Ginger Kuhn, Sherry Hall and Leann Beckett and the staff at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House. Pallbearers will be grandsons and great-grandsons. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday and after noon Saturday at the Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville.
