Hon. Lazarus Hammond Sr. married Juliana Strong Mathews on March 24, 1795. "Julia married Lazarus at the head of Crooked Lake, Steuben Co., NY"

They had 10 children together;
Hannah Hammond - 1796 to 1871
John Hammond- 1798 to 1817
Catherine Hammond- 1800 to 1860
Sarah Hammond - 1802 to ?
James Mathews Hammond - 1804-1824
Amariah Hammond - 1807 to ?
Samuel Haight Hammond- m. Miss Emeline Anne Humphrey
Vincent Mathews Hammond - 1811 to 1824
William Strong Hammond - 1812 to 1868
Fletcher Mathews Hammond- 1815 - 1847

Juliana was the daughter of James Matthews a PVT in the Revolutionary War, his father General Vincent Matthews, his father Colonel Peter Matthews who immigrated here in 1665 from Ulster, Ireland along with his wife Bridget Coote-Mathews.

Juliana's mother was Hannah Strong a descendant of Elder John Strong. Through Elder John Strong we are related to the Rooselvelts and Princess Diana. A few more celebrities as well. We share a common grandfather. Google, "Strong family association"

** Yes the headstone says Julianer but that was not her name. We have since learned that it was in fact Juliana. Anyone who has done their due diligence at genealogy will testify that very often mistakes like this were made on headstones, documents, etc. So please don't send me a message regarding this. Thanks!

I have much information on Juliana and Lazarus e-mail me for more info- Kristina
