Edna C. Graumenz, 88, of Vandalia, died at 5:45 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 8, 2010, at the family residence.
Services were held at 2 p.m. on Monday at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Vandalia, with Pastor Peter Kolb officiating. Burial was in Fairlawn Cemetery in Vandalia. Visitation was held an hour before services at the church. Hohlt & File Funeral Home in Vandalia was in charge of arrangements. Memorials: Fayette County Health Department Hospice or Holy Cross Lutheran Church.
Mrs. Graumenz was born on June 26, 1921, in St. Peter, the daughter of Herman and Fredricka Wernke Bergman. She married Alvin Graumenz on Sept. 19, 1948, in St. Peter.
She was a homemaker, an Avon sales representative for 25 years and a housekeeper at Corbell, Miller & Schaffer for 30 years. She was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church.
She is survived by her husband; daughter, Karen and her husband Charles "Geno" Cearlock of Vandalia; son-in-law, Larry Hoffek of Vandalia; sister, Ida Telger of Vandalia; grandsons, Steve Cearlock and his wife Michelle, and Bryan Cearlock and his wife Kim; granddaughters, Susan and her husband John LaMonica, and Michelle and her husband Dane Schmitt; and great-grandchildren, Autumn, Lauren, Isabella and Chase.
She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Judy Ann Hoffek; brothers, Edgar Bergman and Otto Bergman; and sisters, Ella Ruben and Hilda Beckmeyer.
