Born June 5, 1922, in Vanceburg, Ky., he was a son of the late Robert and Ackey Fraley.
Mr. Fraley was a retired truck driver, last employed at Cedar Coal Co. He was a member of UMWA District 17.
He was a World War II veteran. While serving in the 5th Army under General Mark Clark, some of his honors included: Good Conduct Medal, American Defense Service Medal with Bronze Star, American Theater Service Ribbon, European African Middle Eastern Service Ribbon, a second Bronze Star and Purple Heart.
Mr. Fraley attended church at Clear Creek Presbyterian Church.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 50 years, Josephine Toney Fraley. They were the first couple to be married in Clear Creek Presbyterian Church.
His hobbies included fishing at his pond and watching his grandchildren ride horses.
He was also preceded in death by a grandson, Austin George Fraley; his brothers, Randolph Fraley and his wife, Georgia, of Cheshire, Ohio, and Ishmael Fraley of Brecksville, Ohio; and a brother-in-law, Sam Robinson Jr.
Survivors include three daughters, Sharon Bailey and her husband, Sammey, of Clear Creek, Juanita Adamson and her husband, Richard, of West Salem, Ohio, and Kathy Reid and her husband, Randall, of Clear Creek; two sons, Bobby Fraley and his wife, Angel, of Clear Creek and Randy Fraley of Clear Creek; a brother, Roger Fraley and his wife, Kathleen, of Dorothy; three sisters, Madge Robinson of Seattle, Wash., Wilma Saunders and her husband, Marvin, of Patriot, Ohio, and Lois Barker and her fiance, Clyde Young, of Hartsville, Ala.; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Ishmael Fraley (Margie) of Brecksville, Ohio; nine grandchildren, Scot Bailey, Tammy Bailey Dickens, Bobbie Jo Fraley Stephens, Christopher and Jennifer Adamson, Miranda, James Dariel, and Jonathan Reid and Jimmy Vanoy; seven great-grandchildren, Brittany, Samantha and Jasmine Bailey, Cassidy and Carlie Dickens, Brandon and Shayla Stephens; and many other friends and loved ones.
Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Clear Creek Presbyterian Church with Cpl. David E. Pettry and Miss Anna Diem officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley.
Friends may call 6 to 9 p.m. today at the Valley Funeral Home, Whitesville.
Grandsons and nephews will serve as pallbearers.
