Obituary in unidentified Iowa City area newspaper, December, 1928:
LAST RITES FOR ADAM SCHUESSLER HELD ON TUESDAY
Funeral of Adam Schuessler of Muscatine, brother of Miss Kate, Stephen and Conrad Schuessler of Iowa City, R.F.D. No. 6, was held Tuesday at Muscatine, with the Rev. W. S. Johnson of the Christian church there officiating. Burial was in Greenwood cemetery at Muscatine.
Mr. Schuessler died Saturday afternoon at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Herman Rohde, at West Liberty, where he, with Mrs. Schuessler, had gone to visit. Before moving to Muscatine nine years ago, Mr. Schuessler lived for many years on a farm near Lone Tree.
In addition to the brothers and sister here, he leaves a brother Michael, at Lone Tree, a sister, Mrs. John Emde of Wellman, and six children.

Adam Schuessler, 72, retired farmer, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Herman Rhoda, West Liberty, Saturday afternoon, after a brief illness. Pneumonia, complicated with paralysis, was the cause of his death.
Mr. Schuessler was born at Baden, Germany, Sept. 6, 1856 the son of Adam and Agatha Schuessler. When still a child, he came to America with his parents and for a time lived in Rock Island, Ill., later moving to Johnson co., Ia. For the last nine years Mr. Schuessler made his home in Muscatine.
He married Sophia Jahnke at Lone Tree Oct. 24, 1884. Mrs. Schuessler survives.
He was a member of the Christian church.
Surviving, in addition to the widow, are three sons, Adam and Otto, Muscatine, Alfred, West Liberty; three daughters, Mrs. William Lamprecht, Muscatine, Mrs. Herman Rhoda and Mrs. Harry Pike, West Liberty; three brothers, Michael, Lone Tree, Stephen and Conrad of Iowa City, and two sisters , Mrs. John Emde of Wellman and Katherine Schuessler, Iowa City, and 10 grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will be held at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Lamprecht, 613 East Tenth street, Tuesday at 2 p.m., in charge of the Rev. W. s. Johnson, pastor of the Christian church.
Burial will be at Greenwood cemetery. the Meyers funeral home will be in charge of arrangements.
