DAWSON - May 19th, 1882, at the residence of his son, George W. Dawson, two miles and a half north of Carrington, this county, George Dawson, aged 83 years the 11th day of last April.
He was born in Virginia, and left that State with his father at the age of six and resided in Clark county, Kentucky, till 1828, when he emigrated to Boone county, this State, where he resided one year, and moved to Callaway in 1829 and settled on the place four miles west of Fulton, now occupied by his son Samuel. He lived on this farm for 50 years. He was a consistent member of the Old School Baptist church for about 45 years. His wife, whom he married in Kentucky, has been dead 36 years.
He leaves four sons to mourn their loss of a kind and indulgent father, John, Christopher, Samuel and George, all prosperous farmers and good citizens residing in this county. His remains were interred at the White Cloud Church Cemetery on the 20th inst.
