MILANO MAN DIES FROM INJURIES RECEIVED LATE THURSDAY AFTERNOON.

Mystery Surrounds Exact Cause of the Accident -- Expires En Route on a Freight Train From Rogers to Temple.
Richard Wise, aged about 28, was run over by the "Tango" near Rogers Thursday afternoon at 5:30 o'clock and received injuries which caused his death yesterday morning between 1 and 2 o'clock. Both feet were severed above the ankles and the face was bruised.
The exact manner of the accident is a mystery, so far. It is stated the first intimation the crew of the "Tango" had of the accident was when notified by a passenger that a man had been run over. A physician at Rogers was notified and hurried to the scene on a handcar. At one o'clock yesterday morning the injured man was placed in the caboose of a freight train and brought to Temple, dying en route. The Santa Fe railroad turned the corpse over a local undertaker, who prepared it for burial and shipped it to Somerville {should be Milano} for interment.
Manner of Accident Not Known
So far nothing positive has been gained of the manner in which the accident occurred. It is the belief of some that Wise attempted to catch the train and in doing so was swung under the wheels and his legs crushed off. Others advance the theory that Wise, in crossing the track ahead of the train, stubbed his toe and fell beneath the wheels. In view of the fact that the train crew did not see him, this latter theory is highly improbable. The railroad is making an investigation, but as yet no new light has been thrown on the mystery.
It is stated Wise was from Milano, but, nothing more could be learned about him, further than that he was supposed to be picking cotton somewhere near Rogers.

Temple, Tex.. Sept. 27.--Richard Wise, a white man about 28 years old was run over by the southbound Santa Fe passenger train leaving here at 5 p.m. near Rogers Friday.
He received injuries which resulted in his death a few hours later in the caboose of a freight train on route to the Santa Fe hospital at Temple for treatment.
The train crew was unaware of the accident until informed by a passenger on the train that a man had been run over.
The body of the man is now lying at a local undertaking parlor while efforts are being made to communicate with his relatives and friends who are believed to reside in Milano.

Last Thursday evening at about 5:30 o'clock as the Tango was running {near?} Rogers, Mr. Richard Wise in some way or manner fell beneath the moving train as he was walking alongside of it, and as a result both of his feet were cut off and other parts of the body badly mangled. He was taken to Rogers and from there to Temple but died before very much could be done for him. His remains were sent to our city Friday afternoon and Saturday morning funeral services were conducted from Mrs. Wayne Boggan's residence to the city cemetery. Deceased was about 30 years of age and leaves a wife and two children. To them we extend our heartfelt sympathy and condolence in their great loss.
