EDITOR PERCY McGARY DEAD. While tearing down a building Monday, April 10, our old friend and fellow citizen, Mr. Percy McGary, received injuries from which he died at 15 minutes after 10 o'clock that night. The news of his death will carry the deepest sorrow to a hoast of people in San Jacinto County and elsewhere, who were his friends. Mr. McGary was the oldest of a family of five children, three boys and two girls. His father, editor Daniel McGary, was a prominent character of Texas in its early history and helped to lay the foundations that have made the Great Lone Star State. Mr. McGary's brothers, who are both dead, were, like himself, editors of news papers, Daniel McGary was editor at one time of the Cold Springs Currant, Sam McGary was editor of the Beaumont Journal, a daily newspaper published at Beaumont. Mr. McGary's two sisters, Mrs. Sam Foster and Mrs. Annie Baker, survive him, the former residing with her husband, Mr. Sam Foster, at Beaumont, and the latter a widow who lives at Dallas. Mr. McGary was born in 1861 and was 55 years old at the time of his death. He came to San Jacinto County a number of years ago and was editor of the San Jacinto Sentinel, but during the time since he came to the county he resided in Cleveland where he edited the Cleveland Herald. Truthfullness, honesty, fidelity, and charitableness were traits of character that were perfect in Mr. McGary's life. He might have had some faults, but when the great settlement day comes the debit column of his account will be free from marks and will be spotless white for the Great Bookeeper passes no trivial entries on His Great Ledger of Eternity. -Cleveland Herald
