Joy Lorene Priest, local Owasso resident, passed away Monday, January 4, 2010 at the age of 79. Joy was born November 10, 1930 at Hennessey, Oklahoma to Aaron and Elvira (Funk) McCully. She was raised and received her education in Tulsa and was a graduate of Daniel Webster High School Class of 1949. On September 16, 1949, Joy and William C. (Bill) Priest were united in marriage. They made their home in Southern California for many years. Bill preceded her in death in January of 1995. For ten years, Joy made her home in Bartlesville before moving to Owasso in 2006. While in Bartlesville, she was a member of the First Baptist Church and was a volunteer with Jane Phillips Hospital Auxiliary. During her life Joy enjoyed arts and crafts, and for many years did quilting, but of primary importance to her was her family.
Those that hold many cherished memories are her:
Children – Angela Summers Teague and husband David of Dallas, TX
Janet L. Curtis and husband Marc of Owasso, OK
Scott Priest and wife Punny of Bartlesville, OK
Sisters – Fay Chapman of Sand Springs, OK
Emma Admire of Kansas, OK
Seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren
Besides her husband, Joy was preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers and a sister.
Private family services will be held at Floral Haven Memorial Gardens Cemetery at Broken Arrow, OK. Arrangements and services have been entrusted to Mowery Funeral Service of Owasso. www.moweryfs.com
