Jesse Cobbs & Jane Driskill were married in Jefferson Co., TN, June 2, 1800. They had five surviving children: William, Thomas, Jane (Gibson), Henry D. & Mary (Journey). He moved his family to Daviess Co., IN approx. 1823.
Jesse made his living hauling goods across the White River on a flatboat. He also owned quite a bit of land and was a farmer.
Jesse fought in the War of 1812. He was in 4th Regiment (Bayless') East Tennessee Militia. He joined the Army Nov. 13, 1814 at Newport, Cocke Co., TN., and mustered out June 13, 1815. (Info taken from Jesse's military records acquired from the National Archives.)
