William Kessler served as a Private 1st Class in the Hospital Corps of the United States Army during the Spanish-American War.

He was a son of John Kessler and Henrietta (Smith) Kessler.

He enlisted in the U.S. Army on December 12, 1899 in New York City.

He received his discharge from the Army on May 15, 1903.

He was originally from New York, New York.

He was married to Elizabeth Bornhagen.

He was interred in the Gettysburg National Cemetery on January 7, 1936.
