Mrs. Rebecca Grooms, 66, wife of John Wesley Grooms of Peebles route 5 died at 11:20 p.m. Saturday at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Grooms, 519 Sixth Street.
Mrs. Grooms Had been in ill health the last four years and her condition was serious the last two weeks.
Complications caused death. Mrs. Grooms was born Sept. 12, 1875, in Adams Co., a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Palmer.
She spent the greater part of her life in Adams and Pike Co. She had been living with her son two months.
Mrs. Grooms is survived by her husband and four children, Coleman Grooms of Peebles route 5, Henry Grooms, 519 Sixth street, Mrs. Stella Young of Baltimore, MD., Miss Mildred Grooms of Portsmouth. She also is survived by three brothers, Lafe Palmer of Rushtown, Thomas Palmer of Waverly route 2, Meredith Palmer of Peebles route 5, five sisters, Mrs. Ella Carwright of Xenia, Mrs Maggie Woods and Emma Woods of Peebles route 5, Alice Grooms of Peebles route 2, Mrs. Sarah Bruce of Peebles, and five grandchildren.
Funeral services are to be held at Burns' Chapel at 2 p.m. Tuesday.Burial will follow in Arkoe Cemetary.
The body will be moved from Windel-Howland Funeral Home to the residence of her son, 519 Sixth street, This afternoon.
