She was born March 22, 1911, in Colon, Mich., the youngest daughter of Robert and Agnes Adamson.
Upon graduation from high school in Paxton, Ill., in 1929, Ruth attended Wheaton College (Illinois) and graduated with a degree in education in 1933. She later received a master's degree in Education from Illinois State University in Normal. She taught grade school for 27 years, 18 of them in Decatur, Ill.
Ruth married Russell J. Potter on Sept. 22, 1962, in Wheaton, Ill., at which time she retired from teaching and moved to Canton, Ill.
Ruth was an excellent homemaker and took special care to make others feel welcome in her home. She and Russell enjoyed a close and loving marriage until Russell's death on Feb. 2, 2002.
Ruth lived in Canton until 2006, later sharing a home with her granddaughter, Kate Potter, in Elmwood, Ill.
Ruth was a member of the Evangelical Free Church of Canton, Ill., and the Homemakers Extension Association.
She will be remembered for a deep and abiding faith in her Lord, loving all children, her quiet kindness and for making others feel special and thoughtfully cared for.
She was predeceased by two sisters, Irene Adamson and Dorothy Marbaugh; and a stepson, James (Jo) Potter.
Burial will be in White Chapel Memory Gardens in Canton.
