Alvenia Dronet, 91, died Thursday, December 31, 2009, in a local hospital.

She was a native of Ged and was a lifelong resident of Sulphur. She was a past member of Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church were she served as a Eucharistic Minister and was active with the Young At Heart Group. Alvenia worked for many years as an LPN, having worked for West Calcasieu Cameron Hospital and retiring from Moss Regional Hospital.

Survivors include her son, Manuel Dronet of Sulphur; one daughter, Dolores Dronet of Sulphur; one brother, Joseph Voussine of Lake Charles; one sister, Leatha Powell of Sulphur; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Murphy Dronet; a daughter, Allie Trotta; three sisters, Marie Duhon, Alice Fuller, and Lillian Thibodeaux; and two brothers, Armand "TT" Vaussine, Jr. and Fred Vaussine.

Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday, January 4, 2010, in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. The Rev. Aubrey Guilbeau will officiate. Burial will be in Mimosa Pines Cemetery South in Carlyss under the direction of Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation is from 4-9 p.m. Sunday with a scripture service at 6 p.m. followed by a rosary service, and from 8:30 a.m. on Monday in the funeral home.
