Christian "Chris" Cady Purvis, age 64, of Douglas, passed away on Tuesday, March 20, at Coffee Regional Medical Center after a brief illness. Mrs. Purvis, a native of Duval County, Fla., was born January 10, 1943, the daughter of the late Paul Devare and Annie Mae Little Cady. A sister, Fannie Ruth Weeks, and infant sons Thomas Lloyd Nettles and Early Morris Nettles preceded her in death.

Survivors include: Husband Carroll Purvis of Douglas; daughter Kim Nettles of Nicholls and Amanda P. (Rick) Morris of Tarboro, N.C.; special daughter Aleisia Teston of Nicholls; grandchildren Hunter Morris and Cole Morris, both Tarboro, N.C.; sisters Lois Mills, Lou (Claude) Ray, Carolyn Wright and Faye Adams , all of Douglas; brother John L. (Markey) Cady of Douglas; mother-in-law Ruby Purvis of Douglas; sister-in-law Patricia (Mike) Tucker of Willacoochee; brother-in-law Tommy (Alicia) Purvis of Douglas; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 24 at Jowers Chapel with Rev. Winston Wright, Rev. Gene Chaney and Rev. Donnie Sloan officiating. Beth Harper gave the dulogy. The Bonnie Musgrove Family sang "Where We'll Never Die" with Bonnie Musgrove, pianist and the Barnes Sisters sang "I'm A Winner Either Way." Also, two special taped selections of "Shake The Master's Hand" and "Ready To Leave To Go Home" by the Cady Sisters were provided by family.

Burial followed in the Tanner Church Cemetery.

Active pallbearers were: Stacy Adams, Steve Adams, William Mills, Buddy Ray, Juran Ray, Ashley Purvis, Brandon Purvis and Michael Tucker.

Honorary pallbearers were: Members of Clements, Purvis, Stewart and staff, Gene and Jane Wade, Bobby Johnston, Bobby Johnson, Eulene Peterson, Ellen Dean, Joanne D. Vickers, Connie Peacock, Garland Thompson, Carolyn Bray, Janice Beasley, Myrtle Rimes, Dr. and Mrs. Nair, Mary Maranville, Ken Corbitt, Cindy McNeil, Stuart Smith, Peggy Griffin, Sue McCarty, Willie Mae Bolton, Luke Morgan, Jim Wilkerson, J. B. Oliff, Hiram Tanner, Jr., Clarence Hursey and members of Jowers Chapel.
