Mr. John Lawton Cady, age 80, of Douglas, GA, passed away on Monday, January 22, 2018, in Douglas, GA. Mr. Cady was born on October 4, 1937, in Pearson, GA, to the late Paul DeVare Cady and Annie May Little Cady.

He is survived by his wife, Markey Lancaster Cady of Douglas, GA; two sons, Paul DeVare Cady and wife Faye Cady of Summerville, GA, and Timothy Cady of Reidsville, GA; two daughters, Melissa Harrison of Alma, GA, and Tanya Cady Williamson of Vidalia, GA; three sisters, Mrs. Lois Mills of Douglas, GA, Mrs. Lou Ray and husband Claude Ray of Douglas, GA, and Mrs. Faye Adams of Douglas, GA; twelve grandchildren and several great grandchildren. He was preceeded in death by three sisters, Chris Purvis, Fannie Ruth Weeks, and Carolyn Wright.

Funeral service were held on Thursday, January 25, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. at the Chapel of Sims Funeral Home, Douglas, GA, with Rev. Tommy Greene officiating. Special songs “I’m Not Giving Up” and “Shake the Masters Hand” sung by the Cady Sister’s. Active pallbearers were Paul Cady, Juran Ray, Steve Adams, Stacey Adams, Ronnie Purvis, and Lee Harrison.

The interment was in Tanner Baptist Church Cemetery. Sims Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
