Sam J. Holt, retired carpenter and millwright, died at 1:10
a.m. yesterday at Baptist Hospital, apparently after a heart attack. He was 70. Born in Humboldt, Tenn., Mr. Holt moved to Memphis in 1929 from Arkansas City, Ark. He lived at 3524 Trezevant. He was a member of National
Avenue Baptist Church and of the Carpenters Union. He leaves four, sons, George E. Holt of Ocean Springs,Miss., Clayton W. Holt in the Air Force in Vietnam, WiIliam Henry Holt of Louisville, Ky.,and John D. Holt of 2048 Brighton; and two daughters, Mrs. Lillian Wickham of 3682 Suzanne Drive, and Mrs. Shirley Budde of the Trezevant
address; a half sister Mrs. Sadie Harris of Meridian, Miss.; 14 grandchildren and one great grandchild. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at National Avenue Baptist Church with burial in Mount Vernon Gardens. Spencer-Sturla Funeral Home has charge.
