H. Walter Baker, aged 74 years of 149 North Potomac Street, died at 5 o'clock this morning at the Waynesboro Hospital of an asthmatic heart condition from which he has been suffering for several years. He had been critically ill for the last three months and was returned to the hospital last evening at 8 o'clock.
He was born at Antietam Junction at the Baker Homestead and spent his early life in that section. When a young man he came to Waynesboro. For many years he was active in the restaurant business and for several years operated the cafeteria at the Landis Tool Company. For the last several years he has been retired because of ill health. Mr. Baker was a member of the First United Brethren Church. He was a charter member of the Owls.
Surviving are his wife Annie Overcash and these sons and daughters, Charles H. Baker, East Main Street; Mrs. Clarence Sprenkle South Church Street Ext; Paul Baker 249 South Church Street; Merle Baker at home; Jesse & George Baker of Baltimore; Mrs. John Gorman, Gettysburg. Nineteen grandchidldren and fifteen great grandchildren and a sister. Mrs. William DeHart, Park Street also survive.

The funeral will be held Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Grove Funeral Home in charge of the Rev. C. M. Ankerbrand. Interment will be made in Green Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home between the hours of 7 and 9 o'clock Sunday evening.
