From "The Commonwealth", Marion, Alabama, January 16, 1873:
Died at his residence in West Perry on the 9th instant, Mr. William Moore, aged 74 years. Mr. Moore was one of the first settlers of Perry County, having emigrated from Newberry District, South Carolina, fifty-fwo years ago.
He amassed a considerable fortune, raised a large family, lived honored and beloved by all and died at a ripe old age. Thus one by one the venerable landmarks of the past are removed and the places that once knew them, now know them no more.
