Funeral Services for Joseph Burns McLear, 76, of Oswegatchie were held at the Oswegatchie Baptist church at 2pm Tuesday with the Rev. John A. Blackman, pastor, officiating. Burial was made in South Edwards cemetery.

Mr. McLear died at his home Saturday after an illness of more than a year.

Surviving besides his wife, Mrs. Lena MacDana McLear, are seven sons, Alden J., Manistique, Mich.; Robert, Gouverneur; George, Warren Mich; Roland, Fine; Gordon, Dow Air Force Base, Mass; and Joseph, Clay; three daughters, Miss Viola McLear and Mrs. Frank (Ella) Bistrovich, Nedrow; and Mrs. Eugene (June) Shafer, Southridge Air Base, Mich.

Also two brothers, George and Meltin of Hammond and two sisters, Mrs. Margaret Rowland, Watertown, and Miss Sadie Young, Syracuse. There are 19 grandchildren and five great grandchildren surviving.

He was born in Morristown on Feb 26, 1884, the son of James and Hannah Hunter McLear. He married Miss Lena MacDana at Sandy Creek on May 21, 1911. He was a well driller most of his life and retired about two years ago.
