"June P. (McLear) Schafer, age 72, of Litchfield, died on Saturday, November 1, 2008 at Meeker Memorial Hospital in Litchfield, MN.

A memorial service will be held at Johnson-Hagglund Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Litchfield on Wednesday, November 5, 2008 at 2:00PM, with Father Joe Steinbeisser officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Military Honors will be provided by the Litchfield Military Honor Guard.

June Pearl (McLear) Schafer was born on April 16, 1936, to Joseph and Lena (Dana) McLear in Fine, New York. She received her education at the Clifton Fine High School in Star Lake, NY, graduating in 1954. She entered the Air Force 6 months after graduation, going through basic training in San Antonio, TX. She was also an Ensign with the Naval Sea Cadets in Litchfield. June was a life member of the Admiral Benson V.F.W. Post #2818."
