Born June 28, 1930 in Caruthersville, she is the daughter of the late Ode Hemphill and Annie Jones Hemphill.
She spent most of her life in Pemiscot County and was married to Conyer "Butch" Swofford in 1971.
She worked as a nurse's aid at the Pemiscot County Memorial Hospital for over 20 years.
She is preceded in death by her husband and two children, Steve Swofford and Sherry Hemphill.
Survivors include a son, John Swofford of Caruthersville; three daughters, Charolette Reddick of St. Louis, Kathy Hemphill of Caruthersville and Mary Janet Hemphill of St. Louis; six grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Feb. 3, at 11 a.m. at the Dean Funeral Home with Rev. Kenny Lee officiating.
Interment was in the Little Prairie Cemetery in Caruthersville.
