Harold Bernard Bagsby, 88, of Columbia, Ill., born March 20, 1921, in Fancy Farm, Ky., died Sunday, Dec. 27, 2009, in Waterloo, Ill.

Mr. Bagsby worked as a barber and upholsterer. He was a 50-year member of the VFW.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Flossie, nee Cockrell, Bagsby; three brothers, Kenneth Bagsby, William Bagsby, and Claude Bagsby; two sisters, Barbara Gidley, and Ann Dehn; and a grandchild, Ruth Bagsby.

He is survived by his wife, Juanita, nee Martin, Bagsby; two daughters, Virginia "Penny" (Wayne) Jennings of Waterloo, Ill., and Mary Lynn (John) Moss of Columbia, Ill.; two step-children, Ann (Gerald) Stoeckel of Columbia, Ill., and Janet (Laurence) Dauphin of Columbia, Ill.; his grandchildren; his great-grandchildren; his great-great-grandchildren; his step-grandchildren; his step-great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Shannon (Edwin) Matzenbacher of Waterloo, Ill., and Mary Lou (Henry) Ahne of Waterloo, Ill.; four brothers, Rudy Bagsby of Ballwin, Ill., Leo (Janet) Bagsby of Los Angeles, Calif., James Bagsby of Ballwin, Ill., and John Bagsby of Ditmer, Mo.; and a sister, Lucille Cissell of Modoc, Ill.

Memorials may be made to Oak Hill Nursing Home or to the Hospice of Southern Illinois.

Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2009, at DeFabio Funeral Home, Waterloo, Ill.

Funeral: Funeral service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2009, at DeFabio Funeral Home, Waterloo, Ill. Burial will be at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, Mo.
