Eva was raised on a large farm in Ontario, Canada near Minden. She had 8 siblings, Sarah Amy, twin Minnie May, James Alexander, Stanley Stuart, Mary Ada, Helena, Annie Jane and Lila Estella. When she was 21 she came to Nebraska to care for her maternal grandmother, Sarah Hamilton.
On march 18, 1902 she was married to Francis Tilghman Reis. After their marriage they reside in Richfield, Nebraska and then moved to a farm northeast of Richfield where they lived about 45 years. This is where they raised their family, they had six children, Omer Francis, Mildred Elizabeth, Lloyd Tilman, Dorothy Louise, Marvin Henry and Vera Mae. In 1942 they sold this farm and another on the Platte River and moved to LaBelle, Missouri where they bought another farm. They lived here only about 18 months before moving back to Portal, Nebraska where they bought a home on an acreage. About 2 years later they bought a home in Papillion, after the death of Francis, their daughter Vera and her husband built a new home next door. Eva moved in with them until her death.
Grandma was a hard worker, she had a huge garden, they had an orchard with all kinds of fruit she canned as well as the vegetables. She milked a lot of cows and had chickens for eggs and eating. She loved to embroidery and quilt. She was a great cook and baker, with goodies always really for company. She was a tiny lady with a big heart, she was loved by all who knew her.
