Mr. Kercheval began his career with American State Bank in 1918, as a bookkeeper, following his graduation of Sheridan High School. He had served as assistant cashier, cashier, vice-president of the bank from 1949 til 1971.
He was a member of the Sheridan United Methodist Church and a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge. he also belonged to the Scottish Rite. Mr. Kercheval was past president of the Indiana 50-Year Bankers Club, past president and current board member of the Hamilton County Easter Seals Society and a member of the Hamilton County Bankers Association.
In 1922 he married Elsie King who died in 1950. He later marrried Helen Carlton, who survives along with four children, Georgia Horner, Grayslake, Ill.; Elizabeth Cullity and Maria DeVera, both of South Bend and Donald M. Kercheval, Indianapolis; a sister, Hazel Knight, Sheridan and four grandchildren.
