Mrs. Wicker moved to this area in 1959, coming from Kentucky. She had worked at Lyall Electric for 11 years. She was a member of Little Flossie Old Regular Baptist Church in Lisbon.
She enjoyed quilting, cooking, visiting with family, friends and neighbors, and was a fan of Kentucky basketball.
She was born September 4, 1933, in Garrett, Kentucky, to Simon and Alice (Moore) Hunter. On January 7, 1956, she married Aven "Al" Wicker. He preceded her in death on April 27, 1999.
Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Roger and Sherie Wicker of Kendallville; a stepson, Billy G. Wicker of Edgerton, Ohio; a granddaughter and her husband, Lacey and Robert Sills of Auburn; three grandsons, Lane Wolfe, Nathan Fulk and Reese Fulk all of Kendallville; three great grandchildren, Daniel, Lucas, and Collin Sills; two brothers, Paul Hunter of Prestonsburg, Kentucky, and Delbert Hunter of Auburn; two sisters, Ruby Wicker of Kendallville and Dorothy Wicker of Lima, Ohio; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Chester Hunter, and three sisters, Reba Hays, Shirley Smith and Audrey Triplett.
Funeral services will be Monday, June 15, 2009, at 10:00 a.m. in the Little Flossie Old Regular Baptist Church at Lisbon with Elders Russell Hicks, Morris Wicker and Larry Dixon officiating. Burial will be in Orange Cemetery, Rome City.
Casketbearers will be Robert Sills, Jeff Hunter, Ishmel Wicker, Mark Hunter, Frank Wicker, and Kevin King.
Calling will be all day Sunday, June 14, 2009, at the church where an evening service will be held at 6 p.m.
