Funeral services for James G. Newport, 71 years old, who died at his home at Iona Road & South Arlington Avenue on Monday after an illness of almost ten years, will be held at the residence at 2 o'clock this afternoon. Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Newport was a resident of Indianapolis since 1871, coming to this city when he was 5 years old. He was the last person to hold a contract for distribution of daily papers to railroad and traction terminals for shipment prior to the advent of the motor car. He was a painter by occupation.
Mr. Newport was born at Cedarville, Ohio, his family having been first settlers in that community and his grandfather having surveyed the site for the Town of Cedarville. Surviving are a brother, Clarence A. Newport; the widow; two sons; and two daughters.
