William H. Gambold was the fourth of six known children of Levi Sanford Gambold (1830-1913) and Hannah Emmeline Robinson (1834-1922), who married 14 Dec 1853 at Putnam County, Indiana.

William married Louisa M. Berner (1865-1936) on 20 Mar 1884 at Marion County, Indiana. William and Louisa were the parents of two known children, namely:

1. Kathryn "Kate" Gambold Klein (1885-1976)
2. Hazel L. Gambold Hassler (1886-p1920)

William was listed as single (really divorced), living at Indianapolis, Indiana in 1900 with his mother Hannah. He was arrested during the strike against a railroad. He and Louisa divorced at some point. In 1900 Louisa Gambold (b. Aug 1865 in Indiana, parents born Germany, divorced, a baker, mother of two, both living) with daughters Katie and Hazel were living at Indianapolis. In 1910 Louisa and daughter Kate, along with Louisa's brother, William E. Berner, were still living at Indianapolis. In 1920 the widowed Louisa was living with her widowed daughter, Hazel Gambold Hassler at Indianapolis. In 1930 the widow Louisa was living with her daughter Kate Gambold Klein and family at Indianapolis.
