Funeral services for A.S. Bevers, 92, retired farmer and Hall County resident for 66 years, were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 4, at the Lakeview Baptist Church.
Officiating were the Rev. Burton L. Melancon, pastor, and the Rev. John Dorn, pastor of the Lakeview United Methodist Church. Burial was in the IOOF Cemetery at Lakeview under the direction of Spicer Funeral Home.
Albert Sidney Bevers was born Nov. 12, 1880, in Cooke County and moved to Hall County from there in 1907. He had been a member of the Lakeview Baptist Church and IOOF Lodge for 60 years. His wife, Cleo preceded him in death in 1959.
Mr. Bevers passed away early Friday at a hospital in Cisco where he was visiting a son, Robert Z.
Among survivors are five sons, Robert Z. of Cisco, Ira M. of Glendale, Ariz., Buford of Springfield, Mo., Roy K. of El Paso and Berle of Amarillo; two sisters, Mrs. Ruby Leggitt of Memphis and Mrs. Ruth Lorance of Mountain Park, Okla.; three brothers, Charlie of Roberts, N.M., and V.L. and Edgar, both of Memphis; 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Pall bearers were Clyde Lee, Russell Payne, Del Wells, W.C. Hignight, Raymond Moore and Jess Watson.
