Cora Francis Cones is noted as the fourth child of William Washington and Margaret Henrietta (Bayes) Cones. Her estimated birth year is between 1869-1871. Her life was cut short as she died sometime in her second year of life.

She was the sister to the following 7 other siblings:
(8 children in all)
Annie Laurie; Sarah Alice; Charles Grant; William Frank; Nora Mae; Bertha Jane and Tressie Onie Cones.

Records indicate she was buried at Crown Hill Cemetery along side of her mother and father. However, According to records from Crown Hill, the Cora F. Cones that is placed beside William Washington and his wife Margaret, is noted of being deceased in 1907. [To be exact it notes the death on Oct. 11, 1907 in Indianapolis, Ind.] This can not be so if she was William's fourth child.

Records also indicate Williams daughter Cora is buried in Crown Hill Cemetery, section 19 on lot 23, right along side of William and Margaret. If this lot indeed holds the daughter to William then we have a couple mysterious details to investigate.

* Why is she noted as passing on or around 10/11/1907?
* Is this Cora a grand-child or was this in fact William's daughter?
* Was this information on Cora misprinted in records?

If Cora is the 4th child to William then this would not be possible if she were born in or around 1905 with a death in 1907. Actual records indicate there is a Cora F. Cones at Crown Hill that was buried on 10/11/1907. This leads us to think it is a possible error, possible grandchild or inaccurate record information.

This will be further investigated until we can resolve this mystery. The FACTUAL information here is that YES, William and Margaret Cones did have a child named Cora Frances Cones, she died some time in her 2nd year of life and was lay to rest at Crown Hill Cemetery in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Until then, This memorial is as accurate as it can be until further records are confirmed. Cora Frances is the daughter to William and Margaret Cones with her birth year to be estimated between 1869-1871.

Also something to note: That when looking through data on the cemetery site, it notes Nora and Cora both sharing the same plot site in section 19, lot 23. William and Margaret's headstone also notes Nora on the side of it and there is an actual headstone on the ground next to theirs that notes Nora Cones. So it appears that there is a error in record and I will be contacting Crown Hill on this to see what further we can find out.

--------- [UPDATE] [1] 4/15/2015 ----------

Rather then wipe off the whole bio I am just gonna update here:

I spoke with Crown Hill Cemetery (K****). Actually had an interesting conversation as they individual I spoke with was related to Cones Descendants. Lol. Wow, it is a small world.

On Cora what we did find out is that she is presumed to be the daughter of William Washington Cones. She was buried on Oct. 11, 1907. Now why the date discrepancy?

What Crown Hill was able to show is that it is quite possible that Cora was cremated earlier on and later laid to rest with an other possible young child, family descendant. She IS laid to rest in the same crypt as Sarah Myers, in section 19, lot 23. This section is just down from section 15 where her mother and her father are laid to rest.

Although this is speculation from Crown Hill. I still have a hard time believing that Cora was held over so many years before being laid to rest. This also leads me and family to ask Why would she be held over all these years when William was fairly wealthy and could lay her to rest anytime, anywhere? So this just opens more doors for questions here. And we are off on an other investigation in Cones History.

-------------- [UPDATE] [2] -------------

Upon revisiting Crown Hill Cemetery (today 4/27/2015) We stopped in and asked for the lady that we spoke to, We was shocked to hear one of the ladies in the office tell us they never heard the name we give them. (Puzzled, I showed the email and number I was given to her and that I did call and speak with her, they were still puzzled. So I am even more puzzled as to who did I speak with. Oy.. My FIL was mystified as well.) Long story short, we went to all of the Cones descendants and did our usual rounds and updates and again we went back to William Washington Cones headstone and where the once sat an empty place next to the right side of this headstone between the Cones headstone and Edward Appleget was an empty area. Today low and behold appeared for the first time a headstone for a Sarah Myers. Now the Location that we were given on Sarah Myers is across the way however today there was a headstone marker now attached to this grave only showing Sarah Myers, although Cora is said to be buried with her. The headstone marker does show a burial date prior to the date Crown Hill gave us. So to further Clarify - Cora is now apparently resting in an unmarked grave at the site that Crown Hill previously noted above or she is indeed placed where this headstone now lay aside her father with this Sarah Myers. I am completely mystified.

-------------[UPDATE] [3] --------------

Upon further investigation, we finally discovered who Sarah Myers is. She is the mother of Williams Wife, Margaret H (Bayes) Cones. Her mother went by several names according to records. Find out more here:
