"Mr. O. Baker, father of the Baker brothers of this place died at his home near here (Coolidge) last Saturday morning (Feb. 23, 1907). Mr. Baker was one of the oldest citizens of the county, and a prosperous farmer. He leaves his aged companion and several sons and daughters to mourn his loss. May God's grace and the influence of the Comforter be their stay in their hour of sorrow."

MR. OSBORN BAKER DEAD
Old Citizen and Confederate Soldier Gone to Rest
Coolidge, Ga., Mar. 12,--This community is mourning the loss of Mr. Osborn Baker, who died after a short illness at his home four miles east of here. He was born in Lee county on March 10, 1830, and was seventy years old at the time of his death.
He came to Thomas county about fifty years ago, and had always been a prosperous farmer and a well known man in his community.
He was a Confederate veteran and went to the war on May 9, 1862, serving until Lee’s surrender in April 9, 1865. He served under Captain John Edmondson of Co. C, 61st Georgia, Capt. McDonald, Gen. Gordon and Col. Lamar, and Sergt. Mose Reddick. He first went to Savannah, then to Charleston and Wilmington, and there to Petersburg, Va. His first fight was at Staunton and his next at Richmond. In the middle of July 1862 he was detailed to drive the ambulance, which position he filled through the entire war.
His interment was at Harmony Cemetery, one mile East of Barwick. He had many friends who sympathize with his bereaved family.
