From POWG Vol. 9, p. 25:
"Jordan Wesley "J. W." Baker was born on April 1, 1853 in Laurens Co., GA. His father was Osborne Baker and his mother was Mary Ann Burgess Baker, the daughter of Dillard Burgess (q.v.). In the 1850's they came to the Tallokas area of Brooks County from Sumter County.
"J. W. married Amanda C. Dukes, the daughter of Moses Dukes, of Brooks County. This farming family had 8 children.
"Jordan and Amanda had one daughter in 1880 who died as an infant.
"Jordan and Amanda lived in Brooks County until their deaths. Both are buried at Harmony church near Barwick, GA. Their parents are also buried there."
