Born July 7, 1926 in Hiawatha, Utah, son of Joseph Dillard and Delilah Foote DeFriez.
Mr. DeFriez had never married. In early childhood, he lived in Hiawatha, Mohrland, Castle Dale, Ferron, and Huntington, Utah, moving to Ogden in 1936; and South Ogden in 1943.
He attended Ogden schools, graduating from Weber High School. Elder in the LDS Ogden Fifty-Sixth Ward. Worked for the last eighteen years at Hill AFB, lately as a Pneudraulic systems mechanic; retired on October 2, 1989.
Served in the U.S. Navy, Yoeman, 2nd Class, from March 1944-May 1946. Enjoyed the outdoors, camping, fishing, hunting and snow skiing with his friends and nephews, Wade and Bryan DeFriez.
Survived by two brothers and three sisters, George E. DeFriez, Van Nuys, Calif.; Ruben E. DeFriez, West Jordan; Mrs. James E. (Lois) Sphar, West Point; Mrs. B. Lynn (Reva) Brunson, Provo; Mrs. Ellis P. (Pearl) Smith, Washington Terrace. Preceded in death by parents, grandparents; and four brothers, Horace Dillard; Joseph Albert; Jerry Lee; and Devon Harrington DeFriez.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, April 24, 1990 at 11:00 a.m. at Lindquist Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Boulevard, with Bishop Larry H. Cragun of the Ogden Sixty-Fifth Ward officiating. Friends may call on Monday from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and Tuesday from 10:00-10:45 a.m.
Interment: Lindquist Washington Heights Memorial Park.
