Mrs. Fred Zahn, 85, nee Johanna Bartz, died at her home at Potter June 18.

She was born June 19, 1849 at Stettin, Germany, and came to this country in May 1862. Her marriage to Fred Zahn took place Jan. 25, 1868. They settled on a farm in Rantoul where they remained until 1913, when they moved to Potter.

Eight children, six sons and two daughters were born to their union, of whom three sons and both daughters preceded their mother in death. Mr. Zahn died five and a half years ago.

Mrs. Zahn is survived by three sons, Richard and Theodore, Potter and Anton, Rantoul; 14 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren; one brother, A. W. Bartz, Rockland, Manitowoc county.

Funeral services were held at the Potter Reformed church, of which she was a member, Thursday at 1:30 p.m., with burial in Potter cemetery. Rev. E. P. Nuss officiated.
