MARSHALL - Virginia Adams Daniel, 94, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, passed away peacefully at Heritage of Longview on Saturday, December 19, 2009.

She was born May 20, 1915, in Marshall, Texas, to James Alexander Graves and Mary Jane Hartley Graves, deceased. She was married to the late Charles Joseph Adams, who passed away in 1977, and later to Chester A. Daniel, who passed away in 1990. A longtime Marshall resident and employee of Logan and Whaley and Manly's Furniture and Appliances for many years, she moved to Hallsville, Texas, following Daniel's death and lived at Hallsville Square until failing health required her to move to the Heritage at Longview nursing home in 2007.

Virginia was known for her sweet disposition and her warmth and friendliness to all she met, her love of laughter, her zest for life, and most importantly, her devotion to her family. She enjoyed traveling, cooking, playing dominoes and bingo, and sewing and crafting. She was a member of the Reel Road Church of Christ in Longview, where she greatly treasured worshipping with the members there.

Surviving her are daughters, Charlotte Lawrence and her husband, Charles, of Hallsville, JoAnn Seiple and her husband, Jerry, of Wilmington, N.C., and Marcia Adams of El Cajon, California; grandchildren, Tommy Lawrence and his wife, Rita, of Hallsville, Tracy Lawrence Cox and her husband, Jeff, of St. Augustine and Jennifer Rattmann and her husband, Gavin, of San Diego; great-granddaughter, Katie Cox of St. Augustine; sister, Mary Sue Harbin; brother, Thomas E. Graves, both of Dallas, Texas; as well as nieces and nephews.

At Virginia's request, there will be no visitation or formal memorial service. Instead, a graveside funeral service of family and friends will be held at 3 p.m. today, December 21, 2009, at Fairview Cemetery in Marshall, under the direction of Downs Funeral Home, with David Watts Jr. and Jeff Cox officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her name to Beacon Hospice Foundation, P.O. Box 5908, Longview, TX 75608.

The family would like to thank Heritage at Longview and Beacon Hospice for their loving care of Virginia.
