S.H. Maley Dead
Samuel H. Maley died at his home in Stanwood, Sunday July 16th, 1899, at the age of 82.Mr. Maley had been sick for a number of years and his death was not unexpected. He was born at Wheeling, West Virginia in 1817, and married Mary Ann Scott in 1848, coming to Stanwood in 1868, which town he helped to found. He and his brother, Wm. C. and Wm. Preston obtained 880 acres of land and in 18?? through overtures to the Northwestern secured the location of a town there. Maley Bros. & McCoy operated the secondstore, opened in Stanwood. He leaves a wife and six children to mourn his loss.
