Mrs. Joseph McCoy, one of the oldest residents of Warren County, died at her home in Little York 6 November 1913, following an illness of over a month. Five weeks earlier she had suffered a broken hip and since that time her condition had been serious. She was past 86 years of age and at the time of her accident in early October grave fears were given for her recovery. Her maiden name was Eliza Jane Maley and she was born in West Virginia in 1827 and came to Warren County with her parents early in 1837. Sixty-four years before her death, she was married to Joseph McCoy who preceded her in death several years. To them were born seven children, five of whom survived her. They were Dr. E.E. McCoy of Monmouth, John McCoy of Riverside, California, Agnes and Nettie McCoy at home and Mrs. T. Pierce of Morning Sun, Iowa. The grandchildren from Morning Sun Roy and Hazel Pierce were attending Monmouth College at the time. Mrs. McCoy had been a member of the Little York United Presbyterian Church since its organization and was one of the faithful workers of the congregation. Her funeral was conducted by Reverend H.G. McVey, pastor of the church with burial in the Little York cemetery.
