He was a farmer in Southington.
Washburn owned property in the area of present day Plainville and Southington, CT, South of the river, and probably near the areas of Main Street and Town Line Road. He was said to have owned the place that once belonged to Plainville early settler John Root (probably husband of Martha Orvis).
By 1860 he and Adeline had divorced. According to the 1900 census Adeline's children were all deceased. It's unknown what happened to son Frederick S. but he is not buried at Oak Hill with the other young children.
Youngest son Frank W. left CT and lived in Iowa where he married and had a family. He died at the young age of 34 in a well digging accident.
