Frank S. Dunham was born in Southington, CT in 1859. He was born Franklin Washburn Dunham but must have preferred his second middle name as once he arrived in Iowa he used the "S" as his middle name.
In 1880 he was working on a farm at Nora Springs,Floyd Co.,IA
In 1883 he married Jennie Amelia Sullivan in Nora Springs, IA.
Frank and Jennie returned to CT after their marriage and were living in CT when son Frank Alexander was born in 1884. They had returned to Iowa by the time second son Fred was born in 1888 and lived at Nora Springs, IA for a time.
In 1892 he purchased the N half of section 33 Superior Twp, Superior, IA.

Four sons were born to this union: Frank Alexander, Fred, Harry A.,and Parker G. Fred died as a young boy. So far no records on Fred's death have been found except that he died between 1895 and 1900.
Frank S. Dunham passed away on August 6,1894 in a well digging accident in Richland Twp, Superior,IA, when his four sons were very young and baby Parker was just six days old.
Frank was overtaken by a deadly gas while being lowered into the well he was digging at the place called "The Orphan's Home Farm".

He is buried at Nora Springs,in Rock Grove Cemetery next to his father in-law, Alexander Sullivan.
