Mary Jo McKown, 80 of Macksburg, died Tuesday (Dec 1, 2009) at Marietta Memorial Hospital. She was born July 20, 1929, in Mannington, W.Va., daughter of the late Clarence Kirk Hennen and Nina Louise Hennen Satterfield. Mrs. McKown was a homemaker. She worked as a nurse's aide at Fairmont General Hospital, operated the Mannington Cab Co., and worked at the former Ogle's Family Restaurant in Dexter City. She was a member of Beegum Church near Mannington, loved fishing and listening to gospel music and books on tape. She was preceded in death by her husband, Oval McKown, in 1984; a son, George Edward Snodgrass; a stepson, Robert McKown; a stepdaughter, Margaret Stack; two step-granddaughters, Tina Schob and Janice McKown; her former husband, Jack Lee Snodgrass; two sisters, Helen Michaels and Pauline Gongolia; and a brother, Harold Hennen. She leaves a daughter, Judy Lee (Dean) Hughey of Macksburg; a son, Daniel Kirk (Diane) Snodgrass of Newark; five step-sons, Eugene (Mary Lois) McKown of Crooked Tree, Charlie (Bonnie) McKown of Macksburg, dean (Judy) McKown of Newport, Rodger (Rosie) McKown of Dungannon and Cecil (Debbie) McKown of Kimbolton; extended family Charlie Lee (Louise) Snodgrass of Moundsville, W.Va., Dwight Elias (Mary) Snodgrass of Mannington, W.Va., and Beth (Michael) Thompson of Mannington, W.Va.; a sister, Genevieve Blount of Fairmont, W.Va.; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 11 a.m. until time of service at 1 p.m. Friday at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East St., Caldwell, with the Rev. Ken Ogg officiating. Burial will be in Dudley Cemetery.
