HUGO, Okla. – Marshall "Old Man" Allen, 82, died Sunday, Dec. 13, 2009, at his home North of Sawyer, Okla.
Graveside services are set for 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 18, at the Soper Cemetery Pavilion with Rev. Bennie Hammons officiating. Burial follows in Soper Cemetery in Soper, Okla.
The family receives friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 17, at the Prater-Lampton-Mills & Coffey Funeral Home in Hugo, Okla.
He was born May 2, 1927, in Temple, Okla., the son of Robert Earl and Onie (Pike) Allen. He had lived in this area most all his life. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, achieving the rank of Seaman 2nd Class, and stayed enlisted in the U.S. National Guard for a number of years after the war. He married Elizabeth Carnes in 1979 in Miami, Okla. Together they worked as truck drivers hauling with the Willie Shaw Express, Stanley Trucking, and Frozen Food Express across this country for many years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Elizabeth Allen in 1997; one son, Raymond Allen; and one brother, Archie Allen.
He is survived by three sons, Travis Allen of Sawyer, Okla., Steve Allen of Hewitt and Robert Augusta Allen of Hugo, Okla.; two daughters, Marsha Dale Adams of Owassa, Okla., and Ruby Earlene Creasey of Powderly; a host of grandchildren; great-grandchildren; numerous friends and acquaintances since he never met a stranger.
